Cath Lab Nurse

Unit Information

We are seeking a skilled Cath Lab Nurse to join our dynamic team in a newly established hybrid room. The unit will handle approximately 1-2 cases per day, focusing primarily on adult patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in the Cath Lab, specifically in endovascular procedures.
• Administer moderate sedation and monitor patients throughout procedures.
• Collaborate with medical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain proficiency in the use of Cath Lab technology and equipment.
• Assist with patient recovery and preparation as required.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a procedure area, preferably with ICU background.
• Cath Lab Experience: Required with specific expertise in endovascular approaches and EVAR procedures.
• Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Education: Completion of an accredited nursing education program; Registered Nurse (RN) with South Dakota Board of Nursing.
• Ideal Candidate: Experience in both Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology settings, with specialization in endovascular cases.

Support within the Department

A charge nurse will be available in the Cath Lab to offer guidance and support as needed.

Technology/Equipment

• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump: Baxter
• Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
• X-ray and Hemodynamic Systems: Siemens and Philips

Orientation

New employees will undergo a comprehensive orientation, including four 10-hour shifts with a designated preceptor during the initial week.

Scheduling

• Weekend rotation required; expect to work every other or every third weekend.
• Nightly call may be required 1-2 times per week and rotation for 24-hour on-call coverage two weekends a month.
• Holiday expectations include working every other holiday.
• Request time off must be approved by management.
