Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHH) in Washington, NC

Key Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement or relevant licensure
• Experience working as a DHH specialist or teacher, preferably in K-12 settings
• Strong knowledge of current Deaf Education techniques and assistive technology
• Ability to adapt instruction for diverse learning needs across multiple campuses
• Solid communication skills, both in ASL and written English
• Positive, student-centered mindset and collaborative attitude

Responsibilities:

• Provide itinerant services to students identified as DHH across various grade levels and school sites
• Conduct assessments and help develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and families to support student inclusion and success
• Offer direct instruction, consultation, and support focused on language, communication, and self-advocacy
• Advocate for accessible learning environments and accommodations
• Promote awareness of Deaf culture within the school community
