LEAD ELECTRO-MECHANICAL ENGINEER

JOB SUMMARY

The Lead Electro-Mechanical Engineer will lead the design, development, testing, and implementation of integrated mechanical and electrical systems for products, equipment, and manufacturing processes. This role combines hands-on engineering expertise with project leadership and requires experience with mechanical design, electrical systems, controls integration, product development, and engineering project management.

The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership to cross-functional engineering teams while ensuring designs meet performance, quality, reliability, cost, safety, and regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Lead the design and development of electromechanical products and systems from concept through production.

Provide technical direction to multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and manufacturing engineers.

Manage engineering projects including scope, schedules, budgets, resources, and risk mitigation.

Design control panels using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar engineering software.

Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings in accordance with UL508A standards.

Develop accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for control panel components.

Interpret project specifications, electrical codes, and customer requirements to develop appropriate control panel designs.

Select components for AC/DC circuits, motor circuits, VFDs, PLCs, and industrial networks.

Design control panels for hazardous Class I, Division 1 and Division 2 locations in compliance with applicable standards.

Perform SCCR, heating, and cooling calculations and select components accordingly.

Provide technical support to the control panel shop during assembly and wiring.

Review engineering designs for accuracy, compliance, and constructability.

Ensure designs comply with NEC, NFPA, UL, and other applicable electrical safety standards.

Provide technical support during equipment start-up, testing, and commissioning.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

5+ years of experience in electrical design, with a strong focus on UL508A-compliant control panels.

Strong understanding of electrical theory, power distribution, industrial automation, and control systems.

Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and UL508A standards.

Experience with control panel design, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOM development.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is primarily an office-based engineering role with occasional time spent in the production and manufacturing areas.
