Reports to: Director, Health and Wellness

Fixed Term: February 1, 2027 to June 30, 2027

Location: Arlington, TX (Onsite approx. February 15th - June 14th)

About the Role

Lead the care. Protect the athlete. Drive performance. The Head Athletic Trainer will work in conjunction with the Director, Health & Wellness and team physician(s) to provide exceptional medical care to UFL football players and staff. The Head Athletic Trainer will be responsible for managing two Assistant Athletic Trainers. This role leads the day-to-day athletic training operations for their assigned team, promotes athlete health and safety, and collaborates across medical, performance, and football operations to support optimal readiness, recovery, and performance.

What You Will Do

1. Perform care, prevention, rehabilitation, recovery, and health care administration relevant to the demand of football inherent to the position of Head Athletic Trainer in a professional, ethical manner and at the highest possible standard of care.
2. Order supplies and other sports medicine needs, while staying within budget.
3. Document all medical information, interactions and interventions including but not limited to entrance and exit physical, injury, medication, diagnostic imaging, physician appointments and relevant conversations and communicate as per medico-legal and UFL standards; including but not limited to the UFL EMR, completion of necessary legal/insurance documents, while always ensuring confidentiality
4. Maintain a direct link with appropriate representatives regarding insurance and workers compensation needs; ensuring all forms and reports are communicated in a timely and organized manner.
5. Communicate with the entire sports medicine team, including but not limited to the Medical Director, the Director of Health and Wellness, support staff, the head coach, assistant coaches, team physician(s), players, & UFL front office staff, regarding the day-to-day health status of all player personnel.
6. Coordinate physician coverage for both incoming and exit physical examinations of players with team physicians and personnel staff and ensure all required medical documentation is completed.
7. Arrange off-season rehabilitation if indicated and communicate details with team & league personnel.
8. Collaborate with Sports Performance regarding injury prevention strategies, return to sport planning, and performance support using sports science data when applicable.
9. Regular travel to UFL team markets will be required during the season.

What You Will Bring

• Minimum of bachelor's degree in athletic training or equivalent field.
• The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years clinical experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer.
• Certified by the Athletic Training Board of Certification and current TX state licensure, or be eligible to obtain TX state licensure
• Maintain continuing education units (CEU's) required for BOC certification
• Valid CPR/AED Certification.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights, and holidays required.
• Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Other Duties

• If accepted for the job, will need to obtain Texas State Licensure.
• This position is a fixed term role from February 1st through June 30th
• The primary work location is in Arlington, TX and Trainers are required to be onsite from February 15th to June 14th.
• The role requires frequent travel during the season.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required.
• Ability to work effectively in varying environmental and weather conditions, including prolonged exposure to extreme heat, humidity, cold, rain, and other outdoor elements common to professional football environments.
• Work requires the ability to lift/carry objects routinely as follows:
• Light Lifting: No lifting of objects weighing more than 15 pounds on a regular basis.

Compensation

This role is eligible for seasonal incentive and/or comprehensive benefits, including medical/dental/vision/life insurance. The base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including, without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
