Globe Northwest is a place where all identities are affirmed and all generations are connected. We are 2SLGBTQIA+ led, serving the diverse community of Snohomish County by offering weekly support groups, youth and adult programming, community events, inclusive education, and advocacy for lasting change.

The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer of Globe Northwest, holding ultimate responsibility for strategic direction, fiscal sustainability, staff leadership, and programmatic impact. The ED provides leadership that supports Globe’s Vision, Mission, Values and commitment to having a vibrant, multigenerational queer community rooted in care, connection, and belonging. The ED sets the long-term, high-level strategy for the programming and services provided. This role leads the development of new funding to sustain mission impact; collaborating with community partners and effectively communicating Globe Northwest’s initiatives to the public. The Board of Directors supports the Executive Director through an advisory role, providing high-level governance and fiduciary oversight.

Role & Responsibilities

Visionary Leadership & 2SLGBTQIA+ Advocacy

The Executive Director leads, in partnership with the Board, the development of the strategic plan and directional implementation for the organization to achieve mission impact. The Executive Director clearly outlines the organizational vision and expectations to ensure efficient processes and effective policy creation.

• Establish long-term strategic goals and political/social advocacy efforts that keep queer voices at the center of organizational decision-making.
• Lead short- and long-term strategic planning in collaboration with the Board of Directors, Asset team, and Globe community members.
• Champion queer-led initiatives and ensure organizational policies reflect trauma-informed, harm-reduction, and culturally responsive pedagogies.

Skilled Leader, Communicator + Community Builder

The Executive Director manages the staff and partners with the Board of Directors to ensure that the organizational vision and strategy are executed at a high level. The ED creates a healthy and thriving work environment/culture and models the organizational values. The ED develops and maintains trusted relationships with partner organizations and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community of Snohomish County. The ED will keep the Board of Directors abreast of relevant information and will utilize the Board in an advisory capacity to support Globe Northwest’s work and viability.

• Focus on high-impact service delivery, safe-space creation, trauma-informed care, and program evaluation.
• Serve as the primary spokesperson to press, community coalitions, and policymakers.
• Cultivate working relationships and strategic alliances with local 2SLGBTQIA+ partners, social and health services networks, and municipal stakeholders.
• Lead talent development, team management, and foster an inclusive internal culture rooted in anti-oppression and anti-racism.
• Recruit, manage, and retain a diverse, high-performing team of staff and volunteers.
• Foster a workplace culture that prevents burnout, supports professional growth and continuous improvement, and upholds psychological safety.
• Partner with Board Co-Chairs to recruit diverse board members with relevant community, legal, and financial expertise.

Fiscal Leadership + Compliance Officer

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall financial well-being of the organization, including regularly reviewing budget reports to ensure organizational funds are spent wisely and support long-term sustainability. The ED should consistently identify ways to increase funding and resources to enable programming and services to be well executed. The ED also analyzes contracts with vendors, partners, and grantees to ensure all information is correct and avoids any liabilities. The ED will serve as the final decision-maker for risk-management assessment. In partnership with the Board of Directors, the ED will work to ensure a healthy governance structure exists.

• Ensure quality assurance and regulatory compliance across all programs.
• Build sustainable revenue channels, manage budgets, and cultivate donor relationships.
• Build and execute an annual development plan to meet organizational revenue targets.
• Supervise financial accounting, audit processes, grant compliance, and operational budgeting.
• Partner with the Board of Directors for compliance, governance, and organizational health and growth.
• Maintain transparent, regular reporting on organizational health, financials, and program outcomes to the Board.

Education & Experience:

• Required :
  • 5+ years in senior leadership/management within 2SLGBTQIA+ or nonprofit sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent life/work experience.
  • Knowledge of human and health services, housing regulations, HIPAA/privacy standards, and grant compliance.
• Preferred:
  • Demonstrated success guiding an organization through transformative change, including growing the budget, staff and programming in a strategic and timely fashion.
  • Experience navigating legal issues of youth and guardians, including consent, confidentiality, and minor rights in family or educational settings.

Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to:

• remain in a stationary position for a prolonged period of time.
• move/traverse within a commercial office space, to/from community partner locations, and various meeting spaces.
• move/transport equipment and supplies that may exceed 30 pounds.
• constantly operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a copier and printer.
• communicate frequently, effectively, and accurately with internal and external partners.

Environmental Conditions

Generally, in an office environment with visits to external meetings that require traveling to and from various locations within Snohomish and North King Counties. Globe Northwest has adapted a hybrid work approach, encouraging in-person meetings with team members and community partners.
