Chandler Unified School District Job DescriptionClassification: Support StaffJob Title: Payroll TechnicianCalendar: 2611H (12 Month)Salary: Grade 116 (Support Hourly)Job Goal:Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll for the district and perform related duties.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent, including appropriate business coursesMinimum two years of data entry and clerical experience; payroll and school district experience desiredAbility to use standard office equipment with speed and accuracyStrong math skillsComputer proficiency to include the use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and Google (Docs, Sheets)Ability to work with a computerized systemKnowledge of IRS payroll rules and regulationsAbility to organize, prioritize, problem solve, and meet deadlines with accurate attention to detail while working with frequent interruptionsAbility to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with district personnel at all levels and the publicKnowledge of and adherence to district policies and procedures affecting assigned workCore Job Functions:Compute, code, extend, verify, and check payroll data for all school district employeesTrace errors and make adjustments as neededMake arithmetic calculations of payroll earnings, deductions, and post to the recordMake journal entries when required on code changesMaintain and update a variety of files and recordsPlace and receive telephone calls relating to payroll and inform appropriatelyOperate general office equipment, including a computerPrepare a variety of reports and records relating to payrollCompute payroll from timesheetsPerform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the positionCore Values:Excellence in all we do.
