Up to 15% 401(k) contribution with no employee match required Competitive hourly pay Health, dental and vision insurance Paid time off and paid holidays Supportive, team-oriented work environment Stable, locally owned company with strong community values Why You'll Love Working Here Consistent Schedule Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. What You'll Get Up to 15% 401(k) contribution with no employee match required Competitive hourly pay Health, dental and vision insurance Paid time off and paid holidays Career growth opportunities Supportive, team-oriented work environment Stable, locally owned company with strong community values What You'll Do Financial Reporting & General Ledger Own general ledger functions, including account reconciliations, journal entries and financial statement preparation Review and analyze account balances to identify anomalies and ensure accuracy Manage the reconciliation and accuracy of all account balances Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports Ensure financial reporting complies with company policies and accounting standards Support month-end and year-end close processes Analysis, Budgeting & Forecasting Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting Perform variance analysis and provide insights to support business decisions Monitor financial trends and identify opportunities for improvement Support strategic planning through accurate financial analysis and reporting Cash Management & Fixed Assets Oversee cash management processes, reconciliations and reporting Analyze variances and ensure accuracy of cash-related transactions Maintain and track fixed assets, including depreciation, insurance, licensing and reporting Audits, Compliance & Controls Conduct internal audits and recommend process improvements Coordinate with external auditors and provide required documentation Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies Support tax reporting and regulatory compliance activities Process Improvement & Technology Lead financial software projects and system enhancements Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency Develop and maintain accounting procedures, documentation and training materials Collaborate with departments across the organization to streamline accounting processes Leadership & Team Support Serve as a key contact for accounting-related questions and issues Mentor and support accounting team members Promote best practices and continuous improvement initiatives Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders across the business Required Experience What We're Looking For Minimum 5 years of accounting experience Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Advanced proficiency with accounting systems and financial reporting tools Working knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles Experience preparing financial statements, performing reconciliations and analyzing financial data Experience supporting audits and process improvement initiatives Education Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred Skills Strong financial analysis and problem-solving abilities Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Strategic thinking and sound business judgment Ability to identify trends, risks and opportunities within financial data Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience leading projects and driving process improvements Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Mentoring, coaching or team leadership experience Work Schedule & Location Location: Lansing, MI Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Position Type: Full-time, Exempt About Granger Waste Services Working at Granger Waste Servicesisn’tjust a career--it’sacalling.Guided by the Golden Rule,we'recommitted to caring for our customers, our communities and each other.
