About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Birthing Center Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, NRP, Advanced Fetal Monitoring Must-Have: - Fetal heart rate monitoring and interpretation - Neonatal resuscitation - Newborn and maternal assessment - IV skills Description: The Registered Nurse will manage labor and delivery, postpartum maternal care, newborn care, and GYN surgical patients. The unit utilizes paper charting and an electronic medication administration record. Equipment includes external fetal monitors, Dopplers, infant warmers, newborn scales, and electronic blood pressure machines. The nurse will have a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 during active labor. There will be no call requirements, and the employee will never be assigned the charge nurse role or be the only Birthing Center RN available during their shift. Floating to assist in other units such as the ER, Med/Surg, and SCU may be required, but the employee will not have a patient assignment in those areas. The unit consists of two birthing rooms and four postpartum rooms. Hospital-issued scrubs are required to be worn during the shift. A department-specific training and orientation program will be provided with two clinical shifts for the Birthing Center RN role. Cancellation requires a two-week notice.
