Job Summary Join our team as a Phlebotomist 1 to assist in venipuncture and plasmapheresis procedures, ensure donor safety and high-quality plasma products, and maintain a clean, compliant work environment. What You’ll Do Ensure total operation is compliant with state and federal regulations (e.g., FDA approved Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA, CLIA, and GMP) to maintain high production standards and facility compliance. Maintain a high level of customer service and a positive donor experience in line with company values and culture. Maintain cleanliness of the work area to ensure a clean and professional environment. Review and confirm donor identification and maintain donor confidentiality per Standard Operating Procedures. Set up and prepare all equipment and disposable supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis procedures. Label and ensure each unit and sample is labeled accurately. Execute venipunctures and plasma collection with high standards of quality and safety. Operate automated plasmapheresis machines, including response and evaluation of machine alarms, donor adverse events, and document exceptions. Monitor donor conditions, using techniques to ensure donor comfort, safety, and plasma product quality. Maintain proper ratios to ensure donor safety and product quality. Disconnect donor and manage disposal of biohazard waste and contaminated equipment per safety protocols, including cleaning spills and proper biohazardous waste disposition. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly calibration/maintenance of plasmapheresis machines and replace equipment from service as needed. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation, including Plasmapheresis Machine Logs. Report unsafe situations and conditions to management. Maintain/stocks adequate inventory and replenish supplies on plasma carts. Able to drive training efficiencies to ensure timeliness and compliance. Troubleshoot machine alarms/alerts and perform QCs routinely (daily/monthly) on equipment. What It Takes High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Any specific certification or licensing based on state requirements. Minimum three (3) months’ experience in a medical or health care environment or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Must have completed documentation of training appropriate for duties, prior to performing duties independently. Strong customer service skills required. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal protocol required. Basic computer knowledge and skills required. Ability to make accurate and complete documentation. Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals required. Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Demonstrated consistency and reliability (good attendance, punctuality, flexibility with assigned schedule) required. Ability to work daytime and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts frequently required. Ability to perform venipuncture required. Effective communication skills required. Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to 35 pounds. Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel. Ability to utilize all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Ability to view a video display terminal up to 18 inches away from face for extended periods. Ability to work in temperatures as low as -40°C as required by procedures. Ability to perform precise tasks requiring repetitive small motor skills, such as drawing blood for diagnostic tests. Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.
