Job Description Job Description New York Forwarding Services Inc. is looking for an experienced truck driver to join our team to perform local runs, no over the road (OTR) driving required. This is a full-time position, 75% Container Drayage movement to the port (utilizing company owned/maintained equipment, 5% short haul pick-ups and deliveries, generally less than a five hour driving radius, 20% light warehouse work as needed. Responsibilities · Transport finished goods and repair parts utilizing company owned vehicles/maintained trucks and chassis to port and vendors. · Perform pre and post trip inspections of vehicles daily for mechanical and safety issues. Report immediately to immediate supervisor. · Efficiently plan routes to meet expected delivery schedules for safe and timely delivery and pick-up of goods. · Record Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving. Retain fuel and toll receipts. · Comply with truck driving rules and regulations, federal, state and local laws, DIMS, route designations, parking and break periods as well as company policies and procedures. · Ability to maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions. · Collect appropriate delivery and pick-up paperwork and retain and turn into your immediate supervisor. · Communicate immediately to immediate supervisor when detained from delivery. · Possess a strong work ethic, a clean driving record, and the ability to handle physical workload. · Report defects, accidents or violations immediately to immediate supervisor. Requirements · Current Class A CDL driver’s license · Proven and documented driving experience · Three (3) years verifiable CDL Class A experience. Current TWIC card holder · Current TWIC card holder a plus but ability to immediately procure upon employment · Hiring subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) Pre-Employment Physical or minimum six (6) months remaining on medical card and drug screen. · Hazardous Material Endorsement required · Extensive knowledge of truck driving rules and regulations · No recent moving or driving violations · Adaptability and Resiliency to handle unexpected situations such as but not limited to traffic, weather conditions and business conditions. · Perform light warehouse work when required, forklift certification Job Type · Full-time, 40 hours a week · Monday – Friday with some weekends as required based on business needs
