Location

Hiring in Newport Beach, CA, Sacramento, CA, and Pleasant Hill, CA. Hybrid and remote work arrangements are available for the right candidate. While occasional in-office collaboration is encouraged, we support flexible work arrangements that allow attorneys to perform at their highest level.

Note

Candidates must have an active California Bar license and 3+ years of civil litigation experience with significant law and motion practice. Exceptional legal research and writing skills are required. Candidates who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Job Description

  • Draft and oppose a broad range of law and motion filings, including demurrers, motions to strike, motions for summary judgment, motions for summary adjudication, motions in limine, discovery motions, and other dispositive and non-dispositive motions.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research supporting litigation strategy, client advisement, and case development.
  • Prepare persuasive pleadings, legal memoranda, briefs, appellate-quality research, and other litigation documents.
  • Analyze opposing counsel's motions and develop effective legal arguments and written responses.
  • Collaborate with litigation attorneys handling general liability, construction defect, personal injury, business litigation, and real property matters.
  • Assist with litigation strategy and legal analysis throughout all phases of complex civil litigation.
  • Manage multiple drafting assignments while meeting court deadlines and maintaining exceptional work quality.
  • Communicate with attorneys and clients regarding legal strategy, motion status, and litigation developments.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across the firm's Newport Beach, Sacramento, and Pleasant Hill offices on active litigation matters throughout California.

Qualifications

  • Active California Bar license.
  • 3+ years of civil litigation experience.
  • Significant law and motion experience, including drafting and opposing dispositive motions, discovery motions, pleadings, briefs, and legal memoranda.
  • Outstanding legal research and persuasive writing abilities.
  • Experience in one or more of the following is preferred: general liability, construction defect, personal injury, business litigation, real property, or civil defense.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, attention to detail, and issue-spotting skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple drafting projects and litigation deadlines.
  • 5+ years of experience preferred for consideration at a more senior level.
