Locum Physician Assistant (PA) - Surgery - Trauma

Position Type: Locum
Specialty: Physician - Surgery - Trauma
Location: Redding, CA .
Shift: PM shift (3 p.m. to 1 a.m.)

Position Details:
Patient Population: Trauma patients
Setting: Level II Trauma Center
Responsibilities: Take patient histories; perform physical examinations and assessments; initiate, review, and revise treatment and therapy plans; order or transmit orders for diagnostic and therapeutic services; perform or assist with laboratory and therapeutic procedures; recognize and manage situations requiring immediate physician attention; counsel patients; initiate admissions and continuing care; facilitate referrals; administer medications; monitor, manage, and discharge patients on the trauma service.
Required Procedures: Local anesthesia, laceration repair, dressing changes, drain removal, suture removal, wound debridement and closure, superficial wound debridement, basic management of non-displaced fractures, removal of superficial foreign bodies, hemostasis, packing insertion/removal, incision and drainage, cervical spine clearance, chest tube removal, burn management, arterial line insertion, fracture reductions, simple dislocation reductions, central line insertion, chest tube insertion.
EMR System: Cerner Care B
Support Staff: One other Trauma NP/PA who works day shift (7 a.m. 5 p.m.); one trauma surgeon on call
On-Call/Weekends: Weekend requirements possibly part of schedule; On-call N/A

Submission Requirements:

• NCCPA or ANCC Certified Required
• CA active license Required
• CA DEA, ACLS, ATLS, BLS Required
• Must be actively working at a TJC-accredited hospital Required
