The Activities Associate will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by planning, implementing, and facilitating engaging recreational and therapeutic activities. This position requires a passion for working with seniors and a commitment to promoting their physical, emotional, and social well‑being. Work Environment This position operates in a clinical healthcare environment. Responsibilities Activity Planning and Implementation: Develop and organize a variety of individual and group activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and needs. Facilitate recreational programs, arts and crafts, games, music, and social events to promote resident engagement and interaction. Resident Interaction: Build positive relationships with residents and their families to understand their preferences and encourage participation in activities. Support residents in participating in activities and provide assistance as needed. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of resident participation and document outcomes of activities. Communicate with the healthcare team regarding resident interests and any observed changes in their well‑being. Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including nursing staff and therapists, to coordinate care and ensure a holistic approach to resident activities. Participate in staff meetings and contribute ideas for new programs and improvements. Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all activities comply with facility policies and safety regulations. Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for all residents and staff. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a long‑term care or skilled nursing setting preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine enthusiasm for working with seniors. Ability to plan, organize, and lead diverse activities and programs. Basic knowledge of therapeutic recreation practices is desirable.
