D270 Juvenile Probation About the Position The Clinician (Licensed) is a part of a dynamic team within an integrated model of care that provides Independent Level professional behavioral health and substance abuse counseling. This position is dedicated to providing adolescents with support and resources that will inspire effective long-lasting change. We approach adolescent mental health concerns through a multidisciplinary model which facilitates ongoing communication between members of the care team and provides greater continuity of care.
This is a fast-paced clinical work environment that provides: solution focused counseling, skills-based counseling, substance use counseling, Dialectical behavioral therapy, and crisis intervention. Successful candidates enjoy effecting change in others and working both autonomously as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
We envision a future where all youth are connected to the community, contributing members of society and accountable for their behavior. In support of this vision, our multidisciplinary team is comprised of behavioral health technicians, medical assistants, clinicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, psychiatrists and physicians all working together to provide medical and mental health support to the adolescents and families with the hope of creating effective and long- lasting change.

This position will require occasional weekend work dependent upon department needs. Work is performed in a secured detention facility within a clinic environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak clearly and hear; see details of objects that are less than a few feet away; sit for long periods of time; stand, walk, use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally push, pull or lift up to 20 pounds. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan. - Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or another closely related field
- Two (2) years of full-time post master's behavioral health and human service work experience
- Must be licensed in Arizona by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health with one of the following: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC)
- Valid Arizona Driver License
- Positions in Detention are subject to Tuberculosis (TB) testing. All offers of employment are subject to the successful completion of new employee processing and a negative TB result prior to the start date
- Applicants must pass a thorough background check
- Experience working with at-risk youth
- Conducts professional level one-on-one therapeutic and psychosocial counseling with adolescents that is solution-focused
- Assists adolescents with skill building to overcome current and future challenges
- Coordinate's treatment planning and provides crisis evaluations as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Conducts crisis intervention assessments and other necessary screenings to effectively plan treatment
- Provides specialized treatment to adolescents with significant aggressive maladaptive behaviors, substance use disorders, serious mental illness, cognitive impairment, or developmentally disability.
- Prepares and conducts group counseling on various mental health topics
- Produces informative concise notes consistently documenting intake, treatment plans, and progress
- Conducts training for probation and detention staff to assist them with effective skill-building ideas and plans for adolescents within their supervision
- Coordinates discharge with community providers to ensure continuity of care after detainment
