From construction management and observation/inspection services to laboratory testing and materials and forensic engineering, our Construction Services market helps to develop and maintain America's infrastructure and supply chain and is a recognized industry leader with more than 25 accredited laboratories.Step into Your New RoleKleinfelder is currently looking for an experienced Utility Locator to perform subsurface utility locates on highway, utility and private projects within the Delmarva region. The person filling this role will be required to report to the Dover, DE office at least once per month to attend mandatory virtual safety/staff meetings. Applicant must be responsible, highly motivated, and be a detailed oriented individual interested in joining our Traffic and Utility Engineering Division. OQ Certification must be obtained within one month of employment.Responsibilities:Under the direction of a Utility Locate Supervisor, the person filling this role will perform work that involves visual inspection of predefined construction areas as well as reading and interpretation of utility maps to determine the presence of underground utilities, while using special electronic equipment to detect and locate said utilities. The utilities may include (but not be limited to) gas, electric, cable TV, telecommunications, sanitary sewer, water lines, street lighting and other facilities within the predefined construction area.Use iPad or other devices to receive, document and close out excavation noticesRead and interpret utility maps / prints to identify the type and size of underground utilitiesUse assigned communication equipment to effectively communicate with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel, regarding underground facilitiesOperate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark under-ground facilities within prescribed accuracy limitsUse ground penetrating radar or sonar to locate non-ferrous conduits and pipesProvide accurate documentation and photos of all locates related to all locates completedReceive and respond to excavation notices in accordance with established time requirementsOperate company vehicle in a safe manner, and maintain professional appearanceRegularly drive to project/client sites to complete tasks or attend meetingsBe able to perform junction well and/or manhole entry using assigned equipment and safety devicesPerform work in all weather conditionsParticipate in our on-call rotation – which includes weekend and after-hour time commitmentsRequirements:High School Diploma, or GEDMinimum of 1-year utility locate experienceMinimum of 1-year damage freeAbility to obtain Operator Qualification certification within one month of employmentValid driver's license with demonstrated safe driving practicesMust successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and exemplary driving record (minimum points will be discussed)Physical Abilities:Regular use of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipment and tools; reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally; bending at the waist; standing and or walking for extended periods of time; hearing and speaking to exchange information; carrying 3-5 lb. electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time; lifting objects up to 50 pounds.Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.Move Forward with Kleinfelder:Kleinfelder and its' subsidiaries and affiliates, has been connecting great people to the best work since 1961.
