Skilled Trades Worker
The Maintenance and Operations Department is seeking a Skilled Trades Worker to join the team, taking the Building Maintenance Department to the next level of excellence! This is a rapidly growing center within an academic setting.
The ideal candidate will perform advanced-level duties assisting skilled trades workers in maintenance and renovation tasks, such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and other building trades work. In addition to supporting the department's Skilled Trades Worker will also:
- Perform semi-skilled tasks (in various trades)
- Clean work areas, swept, collected trash, assisted in demolition activities, and moved supplies and equipment
- Perform minor operation, maintenance, installation, and repair of HVAC, heating equipment, and plumbing
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and systems assigned to HVAC and Heating
- Transport raw materials and semi-finished products or supplies between departments or buildings
- Perform minor welding repairs; operate power tools
- Perform light carpentry work, such as building bookshelves, bookcases, etc.
- Mix and pour concrete for foundations and fixtures
- Install, repair, and service motors, pumps, and fans
- Operate heavy machinery, such as forklifts, tractors, etc.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements: Technical or vocational degree in plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or electrical trade area; or a high school diploma or GED and one year of experience in plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or electrical trade area. A valid Georgia driver's license Preferred Hiring Qualifications: Knowledge of tools and equipment used in HVAC and heating. Knowledge of basic principles and practices of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or other related trades. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to perform strenuous manual tasks. Ability to operate hand tools and equipment used in HVAC, heating, and plumbing fields, such as jacks, meters, wrenches, etc. Anticipated Hiring Range: $32,400 - $38,900. Salary offers will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications in relation to the Minimum Hiring Standards. Candidates earlier in their careers are typically offered salaries closer to the minimum of the hiring range, while those with more advanced or relevant experience may be considered for compensation at or above the hiring range.
