Physical Therapist (26-27) Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency Fort Dodge - Fort Dodge, Iowa Open in Google Maps Job Details Job ID: 5721967 Application Deadline: May 31, 2027 11:59 PM (Central Standard Time) Posted: May 18, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Aug 11, 2026 Job Description Qualification EDUCATION: S., M.S., or DPT from a college or university with an approved Physical Therapy Education Program LICENSURE : Physical Therapy license issued by Iowa Department of Public Health Iowa Board of Educational Examiners Statement of Professional Recognition EXPERIENCE: Experience or interest in pediatrics desired Essential Job Functions Collaborate with LEA and AEA staff, other agencies, parents and caregivers regarding motor-based concerns Provide functional mobility, postural and positioning assessments of the child within his/her educational environment Screen, assess and provide resources and/or services to students 0-21 in areas of functional mobility, posture, positioning, and adaptive equipment management within least restrictive environments Manage time, organize materials, and communicate with AEA and LEA staff to effectively manage cases of assigned students Fulfill IEP and IFSP service delivery minutes and maintain timely documentation and billing Utilize individualized physical therapy interventions for children and youth with disabilities in the educational environment Monitor student progress toward measurable educational goals and objectives Participate in supervising clinical interns and in other student training Develop/and or participate in professional enrichment activities to maintain a high standard of service delivery Engage in public awareness activities to assist consumers in understanding their services and outcomes of the physical therapy profession in the educational setting Serve as an advocate for all children and youth Report any and all violations of rules and regulations to supervisor/coordinator Assume responsibility for adapting, designing, ordering and maintaining equipment Supervise physical therapy assistants Provide training and coaching to student's or child's caregivers in how to best implement routine-based strategies and tiered supports Participate in IEP and IFSP meetings and engage in team decision making Other duties as assigned Common to All Employees Contributes to a positive and productive work, learning and team environment Believes in, advocates for, understands, supports and delivers the priority work of the AEAs, Iowa Public and Accredited Schools, the Iowa Department of Education and Prairie Lakes AEA Focuses upon agency and team efforts to deliver equitable, efficient and effective educational services that prepare Iowa children for a life well‑laid Anticipates and responds to needs, requirements and expectations of clients resulting in acceleration, inspiration and innovation Demonstrates effective verbal, non‑verbal, written, listening and visual communication Possesses effective interpersonal, collaboration, facilitation skills and is committed to relationships and partnerships, within and outside of the agency Exhibits self‑motivation, reliability, organization, detail and quality and engages in continuous improvement of professional practice to build skills needed to perform job duties and meet agency goals and expectations Manages time effectively so that timelines are met and improved results are evident in learning, professional capacity and system effectiveness Problem solves by utilizing data‑based decisions, preventing and resolving conflicts and providing comprehensive, high quality solutions Works with integrity and maintains confidentiality Models and integrates technology into daily work Leads professional development for at least one course, internally, externally or both Understands other duties and responsibilities may be assigned, according to current needs of the agency or districts served Physical Requirements Ability to travel between schools and sites served. Normal, routine levels of activity related to bending, carrying, climbing, hearing, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, vision and walking. Ability to regularly get up and down from the floor, climb stairs, and deliver and manage positioning and adaptive therapy equipment. May also involve above‑average levels of activity at times that can’t always be anticipated.
