Job Title: Quality Technician / Production Quality Inspector Job Description
This role focuses on ensuring that aerospace parts and assemblies consistently meet stringent safety, reliability, and performance standards. You will own quality inspections across the full production lifecycle—including in-process, first article, and final inspections—and play a critical role in verifying that every component conforms to engineering requirements and is fully compliant before it is released for shipment or flight.
Responsibilities
Perform detailed visual inspections of manufactured aerospace parts and assemblies to defined quality standards.
Conduct dimensional and physical inspections of incoming and in-process aerospace components using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and thread gauges.
Interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to validate conformance to design requirements, tolerance levels, and customer specifications.
Execute and document First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 standards to confirm that initial production meets all aerospace and customer requirements.
Use advanced precision measurement equipment, including coordinate measuring machines (CMM), borescopes, micrometers, and calipers, to verify high-precision tolerances.
Record inspection data and maintain accurate, complete quality documentation, including logs, reports, certificates of conformity (CoCs), and shop job packages, ensuring full traceability for every inspected part.
Identify, document, and report nonconformances (NCRs), and collaborate with Quality Engineering, Engineering, and Production teams to determine corrective actions, rework recommendations, or disposition of nonconforming product.
Support internal and external quality management system (QMS) audits to demonstrate compliance with AS9100 standards and relevant regulatory requirements such as FAA regulations.
Review production and job documentation to ensure that work instructions, specifications, and quality requirements are correctly followed throughout the manufacturing process.
Perform other quality-related duties as assigned to support continuous improvement and production needs.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 3 years of quality inspection experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
Strong proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and its application to aerospace components.
Proven ability to read and interpret aerospace blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
Hands-on experience performing First Article Inspections (FAI), preferably in accordance with AS9102 standards.
Practical experience using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, and CMM equipment.
Familiarity with AS9100 quality management standards and basic understanding of FAA regulatory requirements for aerospace products.
Ability to pass a visual acuity exam (e.g., Snellen 20/25 or similar) and a color discrimination test required for inspection tasks.
Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy.
Physical ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds periodically.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred; a technical degree or specialized aerospace training is also preferred.
Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Active FAA A&P License or Repairman Certificate is a plus.
Experience with enterprise and engineering software such as SAP, Epicor, CATIA, or other CAD tools is preferred.
Experience with CMM inspection and advanced metrology tools in an aerospace context.
Comfort working with quality documentation, certificates of conformity, and nonconformance reporting systems.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality Engineering, Engineering, and Production.
Organized and detail-oriented approach to maintaining accurate records and supporting audit activities.
Why Work Here?
You will join a growing, modern aerospace manufacturing environment that offers a refreshed approach to how people experience work. The team operates on a four-day work week schedule, providing extended weekends that support work-life balance. Employees enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks every day, along with free team lunches on Thursdays that foster connection and camaraderie. As the facility continues to grow, you will have the opportunity to contribute to building a strong quality culture and to shape processes in a setting that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Work Environment
You will work in a newer aerospace manufacturing shop that is actively expanding its team while maintaining a close-knit, collaborative atmosphere rather than a large, impersonal facility. The environment is production-focused and fast-paced, with an emphasis on precision and adherence to aerospace quality standards such as AS9100. You will regularly use precision measurement equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, CMMs, and borescopes, and may interact with software tools such as SAP, Epicor, and CATIA/CAD. The standard schedule is a four-day work week, Monday through Thursday from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The facility provides free drinks and snacks daily and free employee lunches on Thursdays, contributing to a supportive and engaging workplace. The role requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds periodically in a typical manufacturing shop setting.
