How you show up, communicate, and take care of the load is how our customers experience us.**Work Shift and Hours:*** Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm**Compensation Details:*** The expected pay rate for this position is starting between $25.00 - $27.00 per hour depending on experience.**How This Role Connects to Our Compass*** **We Keep Our Promises:** You deliver what was promised, when it was promised. You make their jobs easier, not harder.* **We Own It:** You take responsibility for your load, your vehicle, and your delivery. Pre-trip inspections are done right, not skipped. If there is a discrepancy or a problem on the road, you call it in — you do not hope it resolves itself.* **We Go Above & Beyond:**You treat every delivery like the customer is watching — because they are. You help offload when needed, represent Shepherd professionally, and flag anything that could become a problem before it does.**Key Outcomes -** *Organized by what matters, not just what you do.***Delivery & Transportation*** Operate straight trucks, box trucks, and flatbed vehicles on assigned routes throughout the Richmond service area* Deliver electrical materials accurately and on time to job sites, contractor yards, and customer locations* Confirm delivery accuracy before departure and document any discrepancies immediately* Communicate proactively with dispatch and branch operations if a delivery is at risk of delay**Vehicle Operation & Safety*** Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections every shift — no shortcuts* Operate equipment safely and in full compliance with DOT regulations and Shepherd safety standards* Report mechanical issues, equipment needs, or safety concerns to leadership without delay* Maintain current CDL Class B license, DOT certification, and medical certification at all times**Warehouse Support*** Assist with loading and unloading as needed, including wrapping pallets and staging outbound freight* Support warehouse operations during non-driving time, including picking and packing customer orders when business needs require it* Work collaboratively with the warehouse team to ensure loads are built correctly before they leave the building**Customer Interaction*** Represent Shepherd professionally at every delivery — your conduct is the customer’s experience of our brand* Communicate clearly and courteously with job site personnel and contractors at every stop* Flag any customer feedback, complaints, or concerns to your Manager the same day they occur**What Success Looks Like** - After 90 days, you and your Manager should both be able to point to these markers:* Routes are run on time and deliveries are complete and correct — recurring errors or missed stops are rare* Pre-trip and post-trip inspections are completed every shift without prompting* Discrepancies are documented and communicated the day they occur — not discovered later* Customers and job site contacts report professional, reliable interactions* Vehicle is returned in the condition it left — fueled, clean, and ready for the next run* Warehouse team trusts that loads you help stage or pack are right before they go out the door**Who Thrives Here** - This role is a strong fit if:* You take safety seriously — every pre-trip, every run, not just when someone is watching* You communicate problems early, not after they become someone else’s issue* You take pride in how you represent the company at every delivery* You are reliable — your team knows they can count on you to show up ready and execute* You treat the warehouse as part of your team, not a separate function* You understand that a missed delivery or a sloppy load is not just a logistics problem — it is a broken promise to a customer**Qualifications & Requirements*** CDL Class B license required* Current DOT and Medical Certification cards required* Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience with a clean motor vehicle record* Ability to operate straight trucks and box trucks; flatbed experience a plus* Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. regularly and perform the physical requirements of the role* High school diploma or equivalent preferred* Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain through onsite training* Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening* Strong verbal communication skills — you relay information clearly and on time* Familiarity with Richmond-area delivery routes preferredThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals occupying this position of employment.
