Associate Medical Director, Clinical Development, Rare Neurology (SMA)

Associate Medical Director role within the Rare Neurology Development Unit, responsible for serving as Study Medical Director for spinal muscular atrophy clinical trials. The position involves clinical oversight of study execution, safety monitoring, regulatory support, and cross-functional collaboration in a matrix environment based in Cambridge, MA.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Study Medical Director for assigned studies, providing oversight from start-up through close-out
• Support development of study protocols, amendments, clinical reports, and regulatory documents
• Review and interpret safety and efficacy data to ensure participant safety and informed decision-making
• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and escalate clinical, safety, and operational risks
• Collaborate with investigators and sites to support enrollment, protocol adherence, and data quality

Requirements

• MD, PharmD, or PhD with approximately 5 years of clinical research experience
• Hands-on experience with protocol development, medical monitoring, and clinical data review
• Working knowledge of GCP, clinical trial design, statistical principles, and regulatory requirements
• Strong organizational and project management skills for competing priorities
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships across internal and external stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Compensation: $194,000-$266,750 base
