Clinical Nurse (SOM DOM Cardiology)

The Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology at the Greenspring Station outpatient location, is seeking a Clinical Nurse to supportCardiologists/electrophysiologist with their outpatient clinicalduties. The incumbent is accountable for the delivery ofcomprehensive care, in collaboration with the provider and othermembers of the health care team, to the client population throughassessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation; this role helpsfoster an environment that optimizes client well-being andoutcomes. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Reviews physician EPIC-in-baskets on a daily basis, triagingappropriately. Pends new medications and prescription refills in Epic forphysician signature. Assists with ordering patient lab and study tests as needed,and routing orders in EPIC to physicians for theirco-signature. Works with cardiology scheduling team to help schedule tests asneeded. Assists in completion of prior authorizations. Follows up on lab and study test results, notifying thephysician and patient as appropriate. Returns patient phone calls and responds to appropriate Epicin-basket questions. Prepares physicians for outpatient clinic appointmentsincluding obtaining detailed medical records for patients withcomplex medical histories and ensuring records are scanned intoEpic. Populates patient history in EPIC prior to appointments. Generates patient problem lists as requested byphysicians. Is aware of the inclusion/exclusion criteria for ongoingclinical trials to help identify possible research candidates. In some circumstances, the RN will also attend clinic withphysicians, obtain/update history and interim concerns frompatients, and help document patient clinic encounters in EPIC. Practices nursing per clinical protocols and under the nursingscope of practice for the State of Maryland. May perform case management services to patients from initialintake visit through termination of services. Assists in the development/updating of unit based protocols,standardized care maps and/or care Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Maryland or statewhere practicing. CPR/BLS certified. Additional education may substitute for required experience andadditional related experience may substitute for required educationbeyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extentpermitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications Cardiology nursing experience preferred. This may includedocumentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicellavaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratorytesting. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases areordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except forthose employees who provide results of blood tests or immunizationdocumentation from their own health care providers.
