divh2Inpatient Acute Care Float APP (ARNP; Nurse Practitioner; or PA-C, Physician Assistant)/h2pThis opening is for 100% FTE, Days; (and with weekend and holiday coverage, and with the potential for some night shifts). The Inpatient Acute Care Float APP team is composed of licensed physician assistants and nurse practitioners who are skilled and trained to work across multiple services at Harborview (currently including General Surgery, Medicine Polytrauma Service, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Burns). Float APPs possess the ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and provide comprehensive care. They play a critical role, filling in when there are staffing shortages, leaves and fluctuating demands. Work is performed 7 days a week with general independence and decision-making responsibility under the general guidance of the attending physicians or fellows, lead APP and APP assistant director. Guidelines include general policy procedures and practice guidelines established by the department and Harborview Medical Center, as well as appropriate professional and technical manuals./ppRoles Responsibilities:/pulliRotating among inpatient services including but not limited to General Surgery, Medicine Polytrauma Service, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Burns/liliConduct comprehensive patient assessments and physical examinations/liliDiagnose and manage acute chronic medical conditions/liliDevelop and implement individualized treatment plans/liliMonitor and evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary/liliPerform procedures within ones scope and training as appropriate/liliOrder and interpret diagnostic tests/liliPrescribe and manage medications/liliCoordinate patient care with multidisciplinary teams, fostering a cooperative atmosphere that promotes effective communication and teamwork/liliProvide patient and family education/liliEngage in patient discharge planning and follow-up care coordination/liliDocument patient care and maintain accurate medical records/liliParticipate in quality improvement initiatives and safety protocols/liliComplete learning modules and participate in continuing education/liliProvide mentorship and guidance as appropriate to other staff and students/li/ulpRequirements:/pulliNurse Practitioner:/liliMasters or Doctorate Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing/liliAND Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privileges/liliAND National certification as an ACNP (Acute Care Nurse Practitioner); (FNPs/Family Nurse Practitioners with at least 3 years of APP/provider level experience in acute care will also be considered)./liliPhysician Assistant:/liliLicensure as a Physicians Assistant in the State of Washington/liliAND national certification from a national certifying body (NCCPA)/liliBLS/ACLS certification required/liliApplicant must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the Organized Medical Staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for hospital-based positions./li/ulpAbout Harborview Medical Center:/ppAs the regions only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
