The Senior Sensitive Support Operations Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides support to project execution and resource allocation in sensitive support activities encompassing National Programs and interagency requirements between USSOCOM and U.S. Government Inter-Agencies. The SME ensures real-time global situational awareness and provides responsive support to critical counterterrorism and National Mission Force operations while integrating seamlessly with HQ's strategic battle rhythm events. The SME optimizes global SOF readiness, posture, and operational capability, ensuring alignment with national strategic and operational objectives and enabling decisive action in support of National Security Council (NSC) directives. Includes tasks such as:
- Lead USSOCOM's DSSA Program: Coordinate daily with key entities (Joint Staff, OSW, U.S. Government Inter-Agencies) to assess urgent requirements and allocate the appropriate USSOCOM resources in alignment with DoW policies.
- Deliver DSSA Briefings: Provide bi-weekly and quarterly updates on operations, resources, and reconciliations to USSOCOM leadership, Joint Staff, OSW, and inter-agency stakeholders.
- Present Actionable Data: Create and deliver decision briefs on Defense Sensitive Support and proposed counterterrorism activities for USSOCOM senior leaders.
- Develop and Maintain Policies: Draft and manage policies for operational support and signature management to enhance collaboration with inter-agency partners.
- Training and Oversight: Conduct DSSA training for USSOCOM, Service Components, and Government Agencies; ensure compliance with directives via inspections aligned with Inspector General requirements.
- Advise Leadership on Critical Operations: Recommend policies and procedures for deploying Special Mission Unit (SMU) personnel in support of National Security Policies and training efforts.
- Manage Travel Clearances: Oversee Theater, Country, and Special Area Clearances for SMU personnel to ensure OCONUS operations comply with relevant policies using APACS-SPECAT.
- Coordinate Deployments: Plan and execute rapid SMU deployment orders for time-sensitive SECWAR-directed missions supporting strategic U.S. policies.
- Align SOF Policies with Strategic Goals: Advise USSOCOM on SOF roles, policies, and coordination across U.S. and partner agencies for crisis and deliberate planning initiatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 5 years of experience as a Defense Sensitive Support Staff Officer at the COCOM level or above.
- 12 years combined Joint, SOF, Interagency, and Regional experience working military operations to include special operations conducted in a joint, combined, and interagency environment
- Knowledge of the Regional (PACOM, EUCOM, Western Hemisphere (WHEM), CENTCOM, AFRICOM) Theater Special Operations Command's areas of responsibility, policies, Special Operations and conventional force command relationships and associated political environment
- Graduated from a Joint Professional Military Education course, Intermediate Development Course or a Senior Professional Military Education Course
- 5 years' experience using communication skills, both written and oral, to include preparation of written products for senior leader (general officer/flag officer/senior executive service level) use and the ability to communicate at all levels
- 3 years' experience working with USSOCOM, subordinate organizations, DOD, and knowledge of each military U.S. military service's roles and missions

- Clearance: Current TS/SCI is required
- Experience: 12 years of related experience, 5 years of specialized experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- Certifications: JPME
- Role requirements: Onsite work at MacDill AFB

The likely salary range for this position is $89,250 - $120,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
Travel Required: 10-25%
