Overview NaphCare is hiring a PRN Night Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team at the Montgomery County Detention Facility in Montgomery, Alabama. As a Correctional Registered Nurse (RN), you'll partner with physicians, advanced practice providers, correctional officers, and fellow healthcare professionals to deliver compassionate, high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include conducting nursing assessments, administering medications and treatments, managing chronic and acute medical conditions, responding to emergencies, and promoting positive health outcomes for patients with diverse and complex healthcare needs. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to: * Performing initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals. * Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs, medical histories. * Providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services. * Managing acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes. * Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities. * Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention. * Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols, while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the safety and well-being of patients. * Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting any relevant information. Qualifications Experience / Requirements / Qualifications * Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the state of AL * Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred) * Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services. * Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills * Able to work independently and in a team * Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed * Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements * Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues * Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements * Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening Physical Capabilities: Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
