Medical Receptionist

Job Description

An employer is seeking a Medical Receptionist to join a specialty healthcare clinic in Hoboken, NJ. This individual will support front-office operations by assisting patients before and after appointments, scheduling visits, updating EMR records, processing payments, and ensuring a positive patient experience. The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities: • Greet patients and families and provide excellent customer service • Complete patient check-in and check-out activities • Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments as needed • Verify and update patient demographics, insurance, and EMR records • Process patient payments and assist with billing-related tasks • Support new patient intake and record creation • Follow up on tests, procedures, forms, and patient communications • Prepare for upcoming clinic schedules and maintain front-office organization • Assist with general administrative projects and clinic support as needed

Schedule: • Four 10-hour shifts per week (4/10) • Clinic hours: 7:45 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., including a lunch break • Current rotating schedule: o Monday through Thursday one week o Tuesday through Friday the following week • Rotating weekend shifts may be added in the future

Skills and Requirements

• 6 to 12 months of Medical Receptionist or healthcare front-office experience
• Experience learning multiple systems/EMR – Currently on Athena but moving to proprietary
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment
• Strong multitasking, organization, and attention to detail
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and accurately document patient interactions
• Comfort using Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace
• Pediatrics experience
