Description JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for performing CT procedures to assist in disease diagnosis. This position is a Safety Sensitive Position. The essential functions, physical demands, and mental competencies of this job require the employee maintain the ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner.
- Review images in the PACS system.
- Be able to identify abnormalities.
- Be able to assist the Radiologist in the interpretation of patient exams.
- Performs CT procedures as prescribed by a physician including positioning the patients for the proper view of the affected area; selects the appropriate scan images to be transferred to a PACS system.
- Obtains essential information from patients, medical records, and previous scans for clinical correlation; instructs patients about the proper physiological requirements for the procedure; helps patients transfer to CT exam table and ensures adequate patient immobilization to perform the scan; knows how to change scanning parameters to improve a scan; obtains diagnostic CT images by scanning the appropriate body part of the patient; submits diagnostic CT exam to a physician for interpretation.
- Assists in performing life-saving techniques (CPR, first aid) to the patient if necessary.
- Practices sterile techniques and prevent cross-contamination. Handles blood and body fluids and deals with infectious patients.
- Performs patient care tasks as needed.
- Requests charts and film folder from the online computer program
- High school diploma; graduation from an accredited Radiography school.
- ARRT (CT) registered; or registry eligible
- Current Radiologic Technology License (RTL) in good standing.
- BLS certification
- Minimum one year of experience and/or training with graduate CT
- Skilled in injecting contrast intravenously for imaging procedures.
- Skilled in using computer network system competently to process patient and department information.
- Knowledgeable and skilled in assuming responsibility for safety factors.
- Ability to explain procedures clearly and simply to patients.

- The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
