Key Responsibilities of the Medical Laboratory Scientist

• Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures including specimen processing and testing
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instrumentation
• Cross-train and assist in other laboratory sections as needed
• Ensure adherence to the laboratory's quality control program
• Utilize the Laboratory Information System for result calculation and verification
• Document and communicate critical laboratory values efficiently
• Engage in developing and implementing new testing procedures and protocols

Requirements of the Medical Laboratory Scientist

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant science or medical technology field
• Certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS
• Recent clinical laboratory experience that includes significant exposure to Blood Banking, among other lab sections
