Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Coordinator, Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN). The Research Coordinator will support research studies conducted within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN), including studies within the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM), and other OBGYN programs as part of the Department's coordinated research support model. The Research Coordinator will work under the direction of the Senior Research Coordinator and departmental research administration and will serve as a core member of the Departments research support team. The position will support multiple research studies simultaneously, manage competing priorities, and shift focus as needed based on study timelines, participant needs, and departmental research priorities. Job Responsibilities: Study Regulations: Maintains awareness of study regulatory status and keeps up-to-date copies of regulatory documents. Assists with the informed consent process and helps ensure that patients/subjects understand what is required of them throughout the study. Follows up regularly with patients/subjects and reminds them of visits and study requirements. Clinical Competency: Position may require competency in performing EKG, phlebotomy, centrifuge use, specimen handling, specimen storage, and specimen shipping. Clinical training and didactic competency tests may be required to perform basic procedures as part of position expectations. In-house training and certification will be provided. Other trainings and competencies may be included as required. Continuous Learning: Position requires ongoing continuing education in all areas of research development. It is expected that the employee demonstrates proof of ongoing research education on a yearly basis. Training programs are provided through the School of Medicine. Reporting and Analysis: Gathers and compiles data and assists in consolidating and analyzing data for presentation to sponsoring and regulatory agencies. Provides reports to necessary parties, including the Principal Investigator, sponsoring agency, and departmental research administration, on the progress of the study as needed. Conducts preliminary analyses of collected data. Formulates and prepares databases and generates preliminary measurement reports for review by the PI. Grants: Assists in the preparation of grant applications and related activities, including collecting and organizing required paperwork for submission, as assigned. Assists with progress reports and coordinates resolution of issues related to required reports to sponsors or funding agencies. Budgets: May assist with draft study budgets and submit materials to the Principal Investigator or departmental research administration for review, as assigned. Assists in the preparation of funding reports to agencies and maintains documentation related to study activity, coordinator effort, sponsor invoices, payments, and study-related expenses. Human Subjects Research: Updates and submits necessary documents required by the NYU Institutional Review Board (IRB), NYU Office of Clinical Trials, and other appropriate parties in order to obtain or maintain approval to conduct human subjects research. Secures accurate signatures and forwards documents and/or forms to the appropriate destination. May prepare and submit enrollment statistics to the Office of Clinical Trials and provide other information in a timely manner, as necessary. Research Activities: Collects patient information for assigned research project(s). This may include abstraction of data from the patient chart, including laboratory or diagnostic test results, surgical/radiation treatments delivered, adverse drug reactions, and other relevant clinical information; abstraction of data for publications; or data collection from outside physicians offices. Uses tools to facilitate data collection, including calendars, schedules, tracking logs, databases, and case report forms. Audits and updates databases or case report forms. Conducts study visits and obtains and documents information within the time frame specified. Researches, collects, compiles, and conducts preliminary analyses of data, statistics, and other materials for reports. Recruitment: Screens potential patients/subjects for eligibility for assigned studies and schedules initial visits. This may include researching and gathering information from the medical record, physician referral, advertisement, or direct contact, and scheduling a visit to evaluate the patient/subject. Reviews all elements of the screening process with the Principal Investigator, including but not limited to inclusion/exclusion criteria, completed informed consent, documentation of the event, and the patient/subjects willingness to participate in the study. Fertility and Biospecimen Research Support: Supports biospecimen-related research activities, including specimen inventory and tracking, consent logging, continuing review reports, study audit support, participant follow-up regarding research consents, and coordination related to research sample storage, tracking, and relocation. Special Projects and Other Duties: Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required. Additional Position Specific Responsibilities: Contribute to the Departments coordinated research support model by supporting multiple assigned studies, balancing competing priorities, and adjusting work as needed based on study timelines, participant needs, operational demands, and departmental research priorities. Demonstrate professionalism, responsiveness, and sound interpersonal judgment when working with collaborators external to the Department. Work collaboratively and professionally across study teams and research portfolios, including communicating clearly, sharing relevant information, and supporting consistent workflows. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree in life sciences, allied health or equivalent in a related discipline and 0-1 years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills. Must be able to work under the direction of supervision. Ability to operate research related equipment. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as World, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications. Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience working with research protocols, human subjects research, clinical research operations, or academic medical center research preferred. Experience with OBGYN, women's health, reproductive health, fertility, reproductive endocrinology, maternal-fetal medicine, or biospecimen-related research preferred. Familiarity with EPIC, REDCap, Qualtrics, institutional IRB systems, research tracking tools, EMR abstraction, consent documentation, and specimen tracking preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, clinical teams, research staff, patients, and external collaborators preferred.
