Principal Technical Program Manager

Salary: $177,000 - 239,400 per year Requirements:

• We lead strategically important, multi-year technical programs across VP-level organizations, managing cross-functional work that spans architecture and algorithmic challenges in last mile planning and execution.
• We drive simplification and efficiency gains across distributed software systems that process 3.5 billion packages each year, addressing critical, long-standing issues at large scale across 280 delivery stations in 13 countries.
• We own the technical roadmap and help shape business strategy for execution planning systems, partnering with engineering teams to build scalable solutions for routing optimization, containerization, and dispatch.
• We define business and technical needs, resolve ambiguity, and manage delivery timelines for high-visibility initiatives while making data-informed trade-offs to improve return on investment.
• We mentor and grow Technical Program Managers across the organization, creating scalable practices and operating mechanisms that promote excellence and independent execution.
• We sponsor and execute multi-year technical strategies aligned with quarterly and annual goals at Amazon scale.
• We run programs that depend on collaboration across a distributed and varied software stack, working with engineering leaders and product managers to shape product vision and roadmaps.
• We lead technical deep dives to address complex optimization problems, write strategic narratives for senior leadership, and identify opportunities to simplify processes and reduce technical complexity.

We are Amazons Execution Planning team, responsible for planning routes for our delivery partners across package delivery and pickup services including Amazon Logistics, AMXL, Amazon Shipping, and Sub-same-day. Our work enables capabilities ranging from same-day delivery to continuous package flow inside delivery stations and robotic in-station package handling. We use science-based algorithms to ensure feasible plans are available from the moment packages are known until they are delivered, solving complex optimization problems in routing, containerization, and dispatch while balancing cost, station throughput, associate safety, on-road efficiency, driver satisfaction, and customer experience.
