Registered Nurse (RN)

REGISTERED NURSE (RN) – Primary Care Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS) provides patient‑centered, team‑based primary care to residents of Western North Carolina. We are looking for a full‑time (40 hours per week) RN to join our growing team! The clinic nurse will provide coverage for McDowell Health Center, 136 Creekview Ct, Marion, NC 28752. RESPONSIBILITIES The clinic nurse delivers comprehensive, patient‑centered care, collaborating with the healthcare team to focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and chronic illness management. Key responsibilities include patient assessments, administering vaccinations, routine medications, chronic condition management, screenings, patient education, and walk‑in and phone triage. Conduct physical exams, measure vital signs, provide wound care, ear syringing, administer immunizations, and complete co‑visits with medical providers. Monitor and manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and hypertension, including medication adjustments based on protocols, and counseling. Provide guidance on healthy lifestyles, illness management, and preventive health measures. Document medical histories, manage patient records, and coordinate care with specialists. Provide over‑the‑phone and in‑person triage to assess patient needs. MISCELLANEOUS Participate in or lead quality improvement activities. Maintain current knowledge of clinical best practices, guidelines, and evidence‑based standards, integrating them into daily nursing practice. QUALIFICATIONS Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or associate’s degree in nursing (ADN). Strong communication and clinical assessment skills; proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR); ability to work in a team‑based environment. BLS/CPR certification. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. Minimum of two years’ experience in an outpatient setting. Familiarity with the role of FQHC in the community.
