About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty required License: Compact or State License required at time of submission Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: Ability to float between combined PCU and Medical-Surgical unit. Required training on Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) for monitoring and interviewing epilepsy patients. Epic experience mandatory. Candidates must work 3 out of 5 winter holidays. Understanding of dysrhythmias management. Description: This position involves working within a combined PCU and Medical-Surgical unit. The emphasis is primarily on neuro patients but includes overflow patients. The nurse-patient ratio is generally 1:3-4, with surges to 1:5 on rare occasions. Daily census on the unit is approximately 19 patients, with a total of 19 beds available. The candidate will provide care to adults and geriatric populations. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretaries. The unit caters to a variety of medical conditions, with a strong focus on neuroscience patients. Candidates must meet compliance requirements, including exams related to BLS, ACLS, EKG, NIHSS, and medication/pharmacology competencies. Experience with telemetry and management of seizure disorders is essential. This role requires effective communication and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
