Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg/Oncology

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Med/Surg/Oncology team. This position involves providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment, particularly focusing on various medical conditions and treatments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients.
• Manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4.
• Administer and titrate IV drips as needed, including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.
• Respond to patient needs and provide appropriate interventions.
• Ability to float to other units as requested based on staffing needs.

Patient Care Focus

The unit serves patients with a range of diagnoses including:

• Congestive heart failure (CHF)
• Hypertension
• Chest pain work-ups
• COPD exacerbations
• Asthma and pneumonia cases
• Pancreatitis
• Bowel obstructions
• Gastrointestinal bleeding
• Acute renal failure

Qualifications

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a medical-surgical or oncology setting.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Experience with titrating intravenous drips.

Schedule and Requirements

• Night shifts with 12-hour shifts available.
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling options are available.
• Weekend commitment: Minimum of six weekend shifts over a six-week schedule.
• Holiday shifts may be required.
• Clinicians must be present in state for orientation, which may include remote modules.

Work Environment

The unit operates with a collaborative team approach and ensures comprehensive support through charge nurses and nurse aids, promoting an equitable distribution of workloads.

Dress Code

The required uniform color for nursing staff is navy blue scrubs.

Additional Information

This position involves the possibility of floating to other units within the designated zone based on staffing needs. Orientation dates and locations will be assigned during the orientation week.
