HVAC Technician - Commercial

Job Summary EMCOR Services of NY/NJ is seeking an HVAC Technician to perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance; troubleshoot and service commercial and industrial HVAC systems; conduct tests and data analysis to ensure proper equipment functioning; understand control operation and sequences; maintain accurate service records; and communicate effectively with customers and team members. The role also involves leading initiatives, building strong customer relationships, and training apprentices and co‑workers. Safety compliance, including electrical safety standards, is mandatory. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Install replacement equipment and parts according to manufacturer specifications to honor warranties. Complete HVACR preventive maintenance in accordance with established standards. Troubleshoot, analyze, and repair HVACR malfunctions in accordance with EPA established standards. Follow maintenance schedule to complete accurate and timely equipment maintenance and operating logs. Complete documentation, including timesheets, expense reports, service reports, and purchase card logs. Perform general tasks such as safety training, group meetings, and maintenance of tools and vehicle (if applicable). Education High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent with HVAC Apprenticeship Program. Qualifications / Skills 5‑10 years of HVAC experience working on commercial or industrial systems. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, safety policies, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence. Effective communication in individual and small group settings. Knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems; basic math skills in all units of measure. Ability to read blueprints, technical schematics, and specification manuals. Licenses / Certifications EPA universal refrigeration license. OSHA 30. FDNY Fire Watch and Burning Permits. Clean driver’s license. Physical Demands Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands; occasional sitting, reaching, climbing, and stooping. Regular lifting of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, and focus adjustment. Work Environment Exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical shock risk, wet or humid conditions, fumes, chemicals, extreme temperatures, vibration, and loud noise. Use of safety equipment such as steel‑toe shoes, hearing, eye, and hand protection may be required. Compensation Compensation Range: Up to $46.23 per hour.
