Job Overview:

PROLIM is seeking experienced Assembler 2 professionals to support Northrop Grumman's Assembly Department in Madison, Alabama.


The selected candidates will perform precision assembly of electronic and mechanical assemblies and subassemblies, including modules, boards, panels, frames, drawers, cables, and other aerospace components.


This position is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in soldering, SMT assembly, wire harness construction, microscope-based precision assembly, and reading complex engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform repetitive and non-repetitive production assembly of electronic and mechanical components.
• Assemble modules, circuit boards, panels, drawers, frames, cables, and related subassemblies.
• Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, diagrams, and work instructions.
• Perform initial layouts and use appropriate hand tools, power tools, jigs, and saws.
• Perform soldering and electrical assembly activities according to established workmanship standards.
• Perform surface mount technology (SMT) assembly and related rework activities.
• Perform wire harness construction and cable assembly.
• Conduct continuity checks on work-in-process and completed assemblies.
• Use microscopes for precision assembly of small components and mechanical parts.
• Perform quality inspections in accordance with established specifications.
• Disassemble, modify, rework, and reassemble assemblies and subassemblies as required.
• Support testing of experimental and prototype assemblies under specified conditions.
• Identify assembly issues and perform appropriate rework or corrective actions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow applicable manufacturing, quality, ESD, FOD, and safety procedures.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of related assembly experience.
• Experience with soldering, preferably with J-Standard certification.
• Experience with SMT packages/assembly or wire harness construction.
• Ability to read and work from complex engineering drawings, blueprints, diagrams, and work instructions.
• Experience using microscopes for precision assembly.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
• Ability to follow detailed manufacturing and quality procedures.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience assembling or troubleshooting RF or CNI systems.
• Experience with rework and modification of dense SMT circuit boards.
• Experience working with prototype cables.
• Proficiency using microscopes for small-part precision assembly.
• Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) such as SAP, Solumina, or Tableau.
• Knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) requirements.
• Knowledge of FOD (Foreign Object Damage) prevention practices.
• Familiarity with ITAR and AS9100 requirements.
• Current J-Standard/J-STD soldering certification.
