Winged Foot Golf Club is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Head Equipment Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and management of all golf course equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring peak equipment performance to support superior course conditioning. Winged Foot Golf Club has a rich championship history and a reputation for excellence. The club has hosted multiple USGA championships and is known for its tradition, attention to detail, and exceptional member experience. The Head Equipment Manager will contribute directly to the future success of the agronomy team and all operations on property. Key Highlights Winged Foot Golf Club operates year-round – Averaging 36,000 rounds per year from early spring to late fall with a busy capital improvement schedule in the winter John Deere lease package with 5 GPS Sprayers 2 Foley 633-reel grinder, 2 Foley 672 bed knife grinders, and an accumaster reel grinder New state-of-the-art 40,000 square foot maintenance facility that includes large mechanical work area Local/National recognition – Winged Foot Golf Club regularly hosts internationally recognized tournaments such as the Anderson Memorial and the 2028 US Open Characteristics of a Successful Candidate Detail-oriented professional committed to superior workmanship and optimal equipment performance A strong desire to elevate standards and take ownership of an industry-leading maintenance operation Proactive problem solver with the ability to anticipate and prevent downtime Technical expert with a deep understanding of turf equipment, engines, hydraulics, pumps, and fabrication A leader and communicator, able to teach individuals with less experience Professional approach consistent with Winged Foot Golf Club’s standards and expectations Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repairs on golf course equipment; including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and heavy equipment Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement efficient solutions to ensure optimal performance Collaborate with the management staff to schedule maintenance tasks that align with course operations Utilize John Deere’s Pro Golf software to maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inventory, and equipment Perform and oversee cutting unit setup, grinding and height of cut to exact standards Inspect, diagnose, and repair Diesel, electric, and gasoline–powered equipment Supervise wash pad and shop maintenance; ensure cleanliness, organization and safety Manage equipment records, budgeting, parts inventory, and repair documentation Collaborate with Administrative Assistant to prepare and process invoices Participate in continuing education and professional association development Implements environmentally responsible maintenance practices in compliance with federal and state regulations, including waste oil disposal, chemical storage, and stormwater management Experience supporting tournament-level conditions, including coordination with agronomy teams and external crews to maintain championship-ready standards. Demonstrates ingenuity in fabrication, with the ability to engineer and modify parts or tools to optimize performance and efficiency Integrate equipment management strategies with overall course conditioning objectives through regular communication with the Superintendent and Director of Golf Courses Qualifications and Experience Proven success as an Equipment Manager or Head Technician at a top-tier facility for a minimum of 6-8 years Expertise with John Deere and Toro equipment platforms Skilled communicator with the ability to lead diverse teams Bachelor’s degree, trade school certification, or equivalent mechanical training preferred Proficiency in reel grinding, welding, fabrication, and equipment setup Competitive salary $165,000-$175,000 commensurate with experience Comprehensive medical and dental insurance coverage Highly competitive 401(k) retirement plan with employer participation Paid vacation and holidays Continuing education support and reimbursement; local and national professional association dues sponsored Annual bonus opportunities #J-18808-Ljbffr ligcsa
