Registered Nurse (RN) - PRN

Job Duties & Responsibilities Complete initial assessments and document as required, collecting and analyzing pertinent data for admission assessment. Involve patient support systems in assessment and documentation, observing interactions. Act as a patient advocate, explaining rights and obtaining necessary consents, and protecting privacy and confidentiality. Assist with patient orientation, maintaining compliance with unit safety policies and gown/contraband search. Initiate and update treatment plans, participate in planning and modifying patient care, and write clear, concise, and obtainable treatment goals. Review lab data, evaluate potential falls, self‑abuse, suicidality, and assaultive behavior, and intervene appropriately. Demonstrate safe and correct medication administration, transcribe orders, monitor patients for adverse effects, and conduct patient education. Use de‑escalation techniques, re‑evaluate safety levels, and identify withdrawal or medication side effects. Organize patient care activities, implement care plans, and ensure compliance with hospitalization standards. Participate in continuing education, in‑service programs, and performance‑improvement initiatives. Lead unit activities as charge nurse when appropriate, coordinate staff, manage the therapeutic milieu, and supervise LPNs or psychiatric technicians. Assist with billing procedures, maintain a primary caseload, and support unit standards of care. Collaborate with committees, execute unit‑based projects, and contribute to hospital functions. Education and Training Requirements Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred. Registered nurse licensed by the State Board of Nursing in the state of employment, with the license in good standing. American Health Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification required within 30 days of hire; bi‑annual re‑certification required. Formal training in management of the aggressive patient required within 60 days of hire; annual re‑certification required. Previous psychiatric experience with children, adolescents, and adults preferred. Designation as a qualified medical professional (QMP) may be required; must be deemed competent to serve as a QMP per the Medical Staff bylaws of Rogers Memorial Hospital. Employees licensed under HFS §40 must have training in psychiatric nursing or one year of clinical experience with children. Pay Range Compensation for this role is between $31.17 and $50.05 per hour, varying by experience and education.
