About This Role
The ideal candidate will be a supportive team player who helps create a nurturing environment for children, collaborates with teachers and directors to develop engaging activities, and effectively communicates with parents to ensure seamless transitions and high-quality education.
What You'll Do- Manage the daily activities and transitions of children, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience.
- Implement curricula activities and promote participation among children.
- Develop and maintain effective communication with parents, including regular progress reports and informal discussions.
- Model and encourage self-help and good hygiene practices among children.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked classroom environment.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure compliance with center policies and state regulations.
- Pursue ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- TB and Physical (must be within a year of hire)
- Able to lift 50 lbs. and walk 2 miles unassisted
- High energy.
- Childcare Experience
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- Ability to work well with others.
- Cleared through NYS
- A degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Experience with childcare software or educational platforms.
- Knowledge of current childcare regulations and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The Cortland Child Development Day Care Program began operation in 1974 to provide early care and education for the children of parents who work or attend school.
We are a not-for-profit agency, licensed by the State of New York. Our Programs are available to infants through preschoolers and children needing school-age recreational care on a year-round basis, open many of the days our public schools are closed. Enrollment priority is given to children with special challenges.
MissionThe Cortland Child Development Centers will provide safe and nurturing environments with opportunities for creative learning:
- Nurturing supervision will be given to infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children while parents are working or pursuing their own education.
- A sliding scale, unique to household composition, will encourage accessibility and affordability for the diverse cultures we serve.
- We will strive to develop community relationships and partnerships with local educational institutions to enrich the experiences for our children and their families.
- Child Development will provide professional opportunities for those seeking real world experiences in early care and education.
$16 - $29 per hour
