As a senior engineer, you will shape and own firmware architecture, influence key hardware decisions, mentor teammates, and contribute from early concept through product launch. You will strengthen our architectural foundations and establish high engineering standards that scale with the growth and complexity of our projects.We support our team with strong benefits, including a zero-deductible health plan, meaningful retirement match, and employee ownership, so you can focus on doing great work and growing your career.What You Will DoDesign and develop firmware for embedded products from concept through productionWrite and maintain high-quality C and C++ codeDevelop control algorithms and communication interfacesCollaborate closely with electrical engineers on hardware selection, board bring-up, testing, and debuggingSupport system integration and product validation effortsOwn and evolve firmware architecture and technical directionLead and drive design reviews and cross-functional technical discussionsMentor engineers and actively elevate team capabilityContinuously build your skills through varied project work and shared learningQualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplineSeven or more years of professional experience in embedded firmware development, including experience owning complex systemsDeep proficiency in C and C++Experience developing for 32-bit microcontrollers and Single Board Computer platformsExperience developing in embedded Linux environmentsExperience using compilers, debuggers, and embedded development toolsWorking knowledge of Real Time Operating SystemsComfort using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and digital multimetersStrong collaboration skills and a practical understanding of electrical engineering fundamentalsExperience leading architectural decisions across multiple firmware projectsExperience establishing or improving engineering standards and development processesStrong design documentation and technical communication skillsTrack record of mentoring engineers and raising overall team capabilityNice to HaveExperience with additional programming languages such as C#, Python, or JavaExperience with communication protocols such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, CAN, TCP/IP, SPI, or I2CFamiliarity with tools such as WiresharkIn-depth knowledge of Linux internals, including bootloaders, file systems, and kernel conceptsExperience with build systems such as Yocto or BuildrootExperience in regulated industries such as medicalWhy i3At i3, Firmware Engineers do not work in isolation.
