Lab Assistant - 3rd shift

Job Title: Technical Lab Assistant - 3rd Shift
Location: 4770 Regent Blvd, Irving, TX 75063
Time: Monday - Friday 11pm to 7:30am CST
Duration: 3+ Months Contract
Shift: 3rd Shift | Weekdays | 40 Hours/Week
Work Setting: Onsite

Job Summary
We are seeking a Technical Lab Assistant to support daily laboratory operations by performing routine laboratory functions accurately and efficiently. This role assists laboratory professionals with specimen processing, instrument maintenance, quality control, and general laboratory support to ensure timely and accurate testing.

Key Responsibilities

Receive, sort, and process incoming laboratory specimens.
Perform specimen centrifugation, storage, retrieval, and preparation for testing.
Prepare specimens at workstations, including aliquoting samples, building worklists, checking for clots/fibrin, inoculation, and slide preparation.
Print specimen labels and maintain accurate laboratory records.
Prepare laboratory reagents and media as required.
Perform routine instrument maintenance on laboratory equipment.
Complete assigned QA/QC duties and maintain quality standards.
Resolve pending specimen lists and locate missing samples.
Record temperature logs and maintain departmental documentation.
Decontaminate laboratory work areas following safety protocols.
Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.
Replace gas cylinders when required.
Operate laboratory computer systems and PCs for documentation and specimen tracking.
Properly dispose of biohazardous materials.
Follow all PPE requirements, laboratory safety guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
Complete all required training and competency assessments.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Ability to establish work priorities and manage multiple responsibilities.
Ability to retain and apply learned procedures.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Medical Assistant training preferred.
Coursework in Math and Science preferred.
Previous laboratory exposure is helpful but not required .

Experience

No prior laboratory experience required.
