Job Summary Monday through Friday 7 or 8 am to 4 or 5 pm. Location: South Austin, Texas. Onsite only, no remote work. $40 per hour (not negotiable). W2 employment only; no C2C. Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Background check required. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, mathematical science, physical science, or related science, plus one or more years of post‑Bachelor’s engineering experience related to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job. Valid driver’s license. Proficiency with AutoCAD. Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365. Experience with electrical substation design and high‑voltage electrical transmission systems. Knowledge of engineering principles, applicable laws, standards, codes, project management methods, budgeting, and cost estimation. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, design, and interpret diagrams, develop scopes of work, and handle documentation systems. Physical ability to meet the demands described in the physical demands section. Nice to Have AutoCAD Civil 3D. Responsibilities An ideal candidate will have experience in electrical substation design as well as familiarity with high voltage electrical transmission systems. This role consists of at times managing many different tasks while leading the development of scopes of work for our electrical transmission capital improvement projects. The candidate will use AutoCAD design suite software to create conceptual substation physical layout and one‑line drawings, and will collaborate with other engineering and field personnel to develop scoping deliverables that inform project cost estimating and design activities. Preferred candidates work well in a team environment and fit the company's strong safety culture. Conduct engineering studies and computations. Develop designs, cost estimates, and drafting work. Correlate and compile data, conduct and analyze tests, diagnose and evaluate equipment performance. May direct work of craftsmen or technicians; may assist less experienced engineers. Investigate and analyze problems; develop appropriate solutions. Draft reports, operating instructions, and project outlines. Apply project management techniques. Plan and design engineering projects. Conduct field analysis, inspections, and performance tests. Draft specifications as required for projects. Complete related computations, draft schematics and diagrams. Develop testing plans, interpret engineering specifications. Coordinate project reviews and implementation plans between individuals and sections. Ensure timely communications occur as needed on project activities. Maintain knowledge of engineering principles and enhance knowledge of company equipment and systems. Gather engineering information by traveling independently to various locations. Serve as owner’s representative for outside engineering contracts in accordance with approved Supply Management processes. May perform confined space entry. Interpret basic engineering drawings or manufacturers’ specifications for field personnel. Provide timely reports that communicate all pertinent information to the responsible engineer. Perform any other job‑related instruction and duties requested by supervisor or management. Work Environment Work hours are spent in an office environment, industrial, plant, construction and/or field environment. Works in close proximity to energized high‑voltage electrical equipment. Work involves exposure to noise. Work involves exposure to various and sometimes extreme weather conditions. Works at heights up to 450 feet. Work involves call‑out as necessary.
