Victim/Witness Specialist (Advocate) Part-Time $27,608-$56,344 per year, commensurate with experience Closing Continuous Victim/Witness Specialist (Advocate) Part-Time Office of the State's Attorney for Anne Arundel County Location: District Court Position Type: Part-Time Salary: $27,608-$56,344 per year, commensurate with experience Position Summary The State's Attorney's Office is seeking a Part-Time Victim/Witness Specialist to support victims and witnesses of crime and to aid prosecutors both with the preparation of a criminal case for trial and throughout the court process. Essential Job Functions Assist victims by providing support, information, safety planning, and community resources. Maintain regular contact with victims and provide notifications regarding case events and post-trial proceedings. Educate victims and witnesses on the court process and attend pre-trial conferences with them. Provide court accompaniment for victims at all court hearings. Obtain victim input for bail reviews, plea hearings, and sentencings. Assist attorneys by preparing victims and witnesses for trial. Review police reports, witness statements, 911 calls, and other evidence. Attend and participate in educational conferences and training seminars. Perform other related duties as needed. Requirements Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a human service-related field (e.g., psychology, human services, sociology, criminal justice). Some knowledge of the court system and victims' rights. Ability to conduct empathetic and objective interviews with victims and witnesses. Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fluid and dynamic environment. Ability to travel between office locations as required. Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check prior to hire.
