Our portfolio includes a wide array of reputable brands like Marriott, Hilton, IHG and Hyatt as well as many unique, independent, boutique and lifestyle properties and restaurants.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Fixed Asset & Capex AccountingMaintain 200+ fixed asset depreciation and amortization schedules across the portfolioApply appropriate depreciable methods and useful lives for fixed assets, and amortization periods for intangible assetsTrack capex project spending for budgeted and emergency requests; close out fully-billed purchase orders in the accounting systemPrepare, review, and post expense-to-fixed-asset reclassification entriesReconcile construction-in-progress accounts and reclass to the appropriate fixed asset account upon project completionDeliver monthly fixed asset reporting to ownership across the portfolioServe as the final authority on capitalization versus expense determinations, applying professional accounting judgment in conformity with GAAP — including where the appropriate treatment differs from the preferences of operations, asset management, or ownershipAccount for right-of-use assets and lease-related amortization under ASC 842, coordinating with the corporate accounting teamSystems and Process ImprovementServe as subject matter expert for the fixed asset and capex workstream in SHG’s migration to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business CentralIdentify and drive process improvement opportunities that reduce manual work and strengthen controls in the new systemFF&E Reserve & Owner/Lender CoordinationPartner with financial institutions to secure and collect FF&E reserve reimbursements, as availablePartner with the capex team on capitalization policy, workload balancing, and day-to-day questionsTeam LeadershipManage, develop, and set priorities for a Fixed Asset Supervisor and Fixed Asset SpecialistOwn the quality and timeliness of the team’s schedules, reconciliations, and reportingServe as the escalation point for complex fixed asset and capex issuesEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including fixed asset/capex accountingPrior supervisory or team-lead experienceExperience participating in an ERP implementation or system conversion strongly preferredMulti-property or hospitality accounting experience a plusKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESDeep understanding of GAAP and USALI, particularly fixed asset capitalization, depreciation, and amortizationAdvanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, large data sets); proficient in Outlook and WordExperience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or comparable ERP) Comfort translating accounting requirements into system configuration and process designGeneral ledger reconciliation and journal entry review skillsThis role is well-suited for a candidate who:Owns outcomes across both steady-state accounting and process transformationTranslates fluently between accounting requirements and system/technical designLeads a small team while staying hands-on with the technical accountingBrings a continuous-improvement mindset to manual, legacy processesOperates with discipline and accuracy across a large, multi-property portfolioCompetenciesProcess Improvement: Identifies inefficiencies in existing processes and redesigns them for accuracy, scale, and control; drives change through ambiguity.Systems Acumen: Understands how accounting logic translates into system configuration; partners effectively with IT/data teams on system design and testing.Commitment to Task: Demonstrates dependability and urgency about results; takes responsibility for outcomes and overcomes obstacles.Communication Skills: Presents ideas and information clearly to varied audiences, including ownership and IT partners; actively listens and responds effectively.Managing Execution: Manages multiple projects, prioritizes effectively, and uses resources to meet goals across both team leadership and individual technical work.*The hiring process may consist of a phone interview, manager(s) interview, drug screen, background check, reference checks, and potential employment assessment.
