Senior Accountant- Commodity Trading

Harmer has partnered with our client in their search for a Trading Desk Accountant. This role will be responsible for the month-end close and financial reporting for assigned physical commodity trading desks. This is a hands-on accounting position requiring experience with journal entries, reconciliations and general ledger accounting. Opportunity Highlights: High-visibility role within a growing energy trading organization Significant interaction with Trading, Operations and Middle Office teams Strong bonus opportunity What You’ll Be Doing: Perform monthly close activities for assigned trading desks, including journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations Account for physical commodity purchases, sales, transportation and related costs Prepare economic-to-accounting P&L reconciliations and investigate differences Reconcile trading-system activity to the general ledger Validate trade-related accounts receivable and accounts payable balances Review balance-sheet accounts, cash movements and working-capital activity Partner with Trading, Operations and Middle Office teams to resolve accounting discrepancies Analyze monthly financial results and explain material variances Support quarterly reporting, management reporting and year-end audit requests Assist with financial-statement preparation and process-improvement initiatives What We’re Looking For: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance Accounting experience within physical energy or commodity trading Hands-on month-end close experience, including journal entries, accruals and reconciliations Experience accounting for commodity purchases, sales and related costs Oil and gas industry experience Crude oil accounting experience preferred Strong Excel and analytical skills CPA or CPA eligibility preferred Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight reporting deadlines #J-18808-Ljbffr Harmer
