Risk Manager

Director of Risk Management Primary focus on claims management, bonding, OSHA compliance. Company is seeking a Director of Risk Management to lead the company’s efforts in managing insurance programs, legal claims, and enterprise risk. This role will be responsible for developing and executing risk mitigation strategies, overseeing claims resolution, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in insurance, legal processes, and operational risk within industrial services or energy sectors. Key Responsibilities Insurance Program Management Oversee all corporate insurance policies including general liability, workers’ compensation, property, auto, and professional liability and employee benefits. Oversee the company’s health insurance policy including involvement with broker to calculate lag under self-insured program. Evaluate coverage adequacy and negotiate renewals with brokers and carriers. Manage insurance certificates and ensure contractual compliance across projects and vendors. Oversee the company’s 401k multi-employer plan. Claims Oversight Lead the investigation, documentation, and resolution of all insurance and legal claims. Coordinate with legal counsel, adjusters, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective claim handling. Maintain a centralized claims database and generate regular reports for executive leadership. Collaborate with internal legal teams and external counsel on litigation matters, contract disputes, and regulatory inquiries. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, including OSHA, labor regulations, and environmental standards. Support contract review processes to identify and mitigate risk exposure. Develop and maintain the company’s risk register and mitigation plans. Conduct risk assessments across operational, financial, and strategic domains. Partner with HSE and Operations teams to align safety and risk protocols. Leadership & Reporting Present risk trends, claims summaries, and insurance metrics to the executive team. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in risk management, Business Administration, Law, or related field Minimum 10 years of experience in risk management, insurance, or legal claims handling. Strong knowledge of industrial services, construction, or energy sectors. Proven ability to manage complex claims and negotiate with insurers.
