Embedded Software Engineer - Body Systems

Foster City, CASoftware – Software Platforms and Product /Full-time /HybridZoox is looking for an embedded software engineer to join our Firmware Body Systems team. In this role, you will be responsible for embedded software development for the body, thermal, lighting, and closure system functions and sub-systems of the Zoox vehicle. This includes integration of supplier systems, coordination and control of all body sub-systems, and interactions with higher-level systems. You will work closely with vehicle engineers, systems engineers, controls engineers, electrical engineers, and suppliers to create a seamless and highly automated rider experience for the Zoox vehicle. We are looking for people who are passionate about working with hardware and developing production-quality code for complex dynamic systems.In this role, you will: Design, develop, and test embedded software for body, thermal, lighting, and door functions of the Zoox vehicleCreate software requirements, design documentation, test plans, and other supporting documentationWork cross-functionally with vehicle engineers, controls engineers, electrical engineers, validation engineers, and other experts to ensure a seamless and highly-automated experience for the Zoox vehicleIntegrate supplier sub-systems into the Zoox software stackContribute to all phases of the software development cycle including prototyping, requirements capture, design, implementation, and validationQualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science or equivalent experience1+ years of experience developing real-time embedded software for distributed electro-mechanical systemsStrong C++/C programming experience and object oriented programmingExperience with embedded micro-controllers and/or microprocessors (ARM, PowerPC or equivalent)Understanding of various sensors, motors, actuatorsHands-on experience with hardware bring-up and system debuggingBonus QualificationsBasic knowledge of control systems for electromechanical systemsExperience with CAN, LIN analysis, and debugging tools (PCAN, CANalyzer, CANape, etc.)$137,000 - $184,000 a yearCompensationThere are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance.
