Job Title: Registered Nurse - Case Manager
Location: Syracuse, NY
Duration: 13 Weeks (Extendable)
Shift: Day Shift - 5x8 Hours (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM)
Compensation

• Local Candidates: $57 - $59 per hour
• Travel Candidates: $65 - $67 per hour

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Case Manager is responsible for coordinating patient care, ensuring appropriate utilization of healthcare resources, and supporting discharge planning. This role collaborates with physicians, healthcare teams, and payers to facilitate quality patient outcomes while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities

• Perform level of care screening using established criteria such as MCG or InterQual
• Apply knowledge of CMS regulations related to hospital admissions and utilization management
• Coordinate care with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and external healthcare agencies
• Interface with healthcare payers and regulatory bodies to ensure appropriate care authorization
• Participate in utilization review and case management processes
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within electronic medical records (EPIC preferred)
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams to support discharge planning
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best practices

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of New York
• Current BLS (AHA) Certification
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent acute care experience (within the last 2 years) in a hospital setting of similar size and scope
• Strong understanding of utilization management and case management principles
• Experience working with InterQual or MCG guidelines
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Additional Requirements

• Travelers must have experience in hospitals of equal or greater size or trauma centers
• Candidate must have a clean professional record (no license suspensions, investigations, or liability claims)
• Experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Records is preferred

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Nursing degree from an accredited program
