Interior Designer I

Aia - Interior Designer Level I JCJ Architecture is seeking an Interior Designer Level I with 3 or more years' experience. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design and at least three to five years of related experience. Certification as a licensed professional is preferred but not required. The role involves generating architectural concepts for interior projects, including furniture and equipment planning, special design concepts, floor plan analysis, and coordination with construction teams. The candidate will demonstrate working knowledge of conceptual, schematic, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration phases on assigned projects. Responsibilities include maintaining frequent communication with the JCJ team, participating in project meetings, developing proficiency in written communication, preparing meeting notes, and adhering to established project schedules and digital file keeping conventions. The candidate will also demonstrate creativity in design, the ability to adapt design solutions to various building types, and a working knowledge of space planning conventions. They will produce building project documentation, create detail drawings, and perform site observation and numeric tasks such as square footage calculations and material quantity take offs. Additionally, the role requires actively maintaining resource materials, demonstrating knowledge of furniture, fixtures, equipment, and material costs, and coordinating with third-party procurement companies. The candidate will participate in value engineering exercises, answer RFI's, and coordinate with construction managers and procurement teams. Job requirements include a Bachelor's degree in design or equivalent work experience, 3+ years' experience in interior design, design management, and design services, and 2+ years creating interior design solutions. Professional registration is preferred but not required, along with advanced computer and information management skills in AutoCAD and Revit. Travel to work sites and other offices may be required, and the candidate should be available for client issues and communication after hours. The work environment includes a professional office setting with exposure to standard office equipment and occasional exposure to extreme conditions at construction job sites. Physical demands include regular talking or hearing, standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, sitting, climbing or balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The candidate must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
