The chosen candidate will lead inpatient teams and provide consultation services in both the hospital and emergency room, while also engaging actively in the education, supervision, and mentorship of psychiatry residents and medical students as part of our ACGME-accredited residency program.

Our residency program accommodates 28 residents and provides training for medical students from Albany Medical College, physician assistant students, psychology practicum students, interns, and post-doctoral fellows.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver direct hospital-based psychiatric care, including inpatient services, consultation-liaison services, and ECT.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and manage patients in both the hospital and emergency department.
  • Instruct and supervise psychiatry residents and medical students in clinical and educational settings.
  • Work collaboratively with residency leadership to enhance resident education, evaluation, and mentorship.
  • Engage in curriculum development, scholarly activities, and quality improvement projects.
  • Participate in departmental and residency training committees as needed.
  • Contribute to weekend and departmental on-call schedules with additional compensation.
  • Research and academic interests are welcomed and supported.
Qualifications:
  • MD, DO, or an equivalent degree.
  • Board certified or board eligible in General Psychiatry.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in New York State.
  • Proven interest in resident education and academic psychiatry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative abilities.
Benefits and Opportunities:
  • A highly competitive base salary starting at $262,500, determined by academic rank and experience.
  • Relocation assistance to facilitate a smooth transition.
  • Attractive sign-on bonus.
  • Comprehensive health insurance, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Generous paid time off and holiday schedule.
  • Retirement plan along with a 403(b) option.
  • Annual CME allowance and dedicated time for continuing education.
  • Occurrence-based malpractice insurance coverage.
  • Employee wellness programs and mental health support services.
