Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provides comprehensive perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in the operating room. Coordinates with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes throughout the surgical process.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients preoperatively to determine their health status and identify potential risks.
• Prepare the operating room environment and assist in the setup of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to facilitate smooth surgical procedures.
• Monitor patients intraoperatively, ensuring vital signs and anesthesia levels are maintained according to protocol.
• Administer medications and perform wound care as directed within the scope of practice.
• Document all patient interactions, observations, and interventions accurately in the medical record.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current, valid nursing license in the state of Iowa.
• Possess a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in acute or ambulatory care, with perioperative experience preferred.
• Demonstrate excellent clinical assessment and surgical nursing skills.
• Be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association, with recertification within three months of hire.
• Exhibit strong teamwork, organization, and the ability to work under pressure effectively.
• Show proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with Windows operating systems.
