Are you ready to join this team and transform U.S. communities?

Underline was founded in 2019 with a singular mission: to deliver modern connectivity infrastructure as the foundation for flourishing communities. With an ethic of partnership, Underline deploys multi-purpose fiber networks to power community goals. These networks deliver ultra-fast internet access to every part of a community—from homes to small businesses, non-profits, enterprise clients, school districts, and governments. Our first two projects are in Colorado Springs and Fountain, Colorado.

About this Position

As the Technical Services Technician 2, you will utilize your experience in OSP and ISP operations to support Underline network operations. This position will perform fiber optic splicing and testing, MDF and IDF installations, QC operations for network installations, preventative maintenance efforts on critical infrastructure and network elements, and respond to emergency situations. This is a full time position with potential requirements for after hours support—both proactive and reactive—based on needs.

What You'll Do

• Splice and test fiber optic cable, including entering large-count cables, building splice enclosures, and verifying every connection with OTDR and power meter testing
• Perform layer one installations and configurations utilizing standard scripts and templates
• Perform detailed site surveys for complex fiber builds, then turn your findings into accurate quotes and polished, client-ready proposals
• Install and terminate MDF and IDF equipment in MxU builds, including rack and cabinet setup, fiber and copper distribution, cable management, labeling, and clean, well-documented handoffs to the network team
• Perform QC operations for network installations
• Perform preventative maintenance efforts on critical infrastructure and network elements

Does this sound like you?

• You have a positive, “can-do” attitude and client-focused approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with urgency, integrity, empathy, and sincerity
• You take pride in clean work. Your splices pass testing the first time, your racks are labeled, and the next tech can pick up exactly where you left off.
• You’re comfortable working on your own in the field, managing your day across multiple job sites, and you know when to escalate.
• You troubleshoot methodically. When a link fails, you trace the problem step by step instead of guessing.
• You communicate clearly with the network team, contractors, and property managers, and you keep tickets and documentation current.
• You follow safety practices without being reminded, whether you’re on a ladder, in an attic, or near live equipment.
• You care about the impact of the work. Reliable fiber keeps homes, businesses, and city services connected in the communities we serve.
• You are open to obtaining lift certifications, climbing certifications and other such requirements as required.
• Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting (up to 51 pounds), working at heights (15 to 25 feet above the ground), in confined spaces (attics and crawl spaces), and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.)

Experience we’re looking for

• 2 plus years of previous experience in telecommunications, equipment configuration, business installation, splicing and testing fiber optic cable, FLM (Front Line Maintenance), and service for electronics and appliances, security, cabling and custom install solutions
• Experience utilizing craft interfaces to configure switches, routers and other hardware
• Previous experience working in the field independently and thriving in a fast-paced environment
• Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license
